The Training course project “Foster Young Life in Rural Areas” took place in 2023 and 2024 in Italy and Germany. Our aim was to explore and specify the topic of rural life from the point of view of the younger generation. With regard to changes of economic and agricultural systems, a strong exodus from the countryside to cities, and a subsequent dying-out of villages, the project team wanted to evaluate the current situation in remote mountain regions in three different EU countries, Italy, Austria, and Germany. Training Workshop for Youth Workers & Educators Foster Young Life in Rural Areas Part II (Hoher Meißner/Hesse, Germany), 13 – 21 July, 2024 After having spent over a week in the village of Gurro in Northern Italy, close to the Swiss border, to elaborate about the specific situation of young people in rural areas, a team of educational trainers from different countries met up in Central Germany, in the Hoher Meißner mountain area in Hesse. Workshop-Report: Foster Young Life in Rural Areas (Part I: Gurro/Northern Italy), 29 July – 9 August, 2023 We were happy to spend 10 interesting days with participants from Italy, Austria, and Germany. We eased into the week by getting to know each other and our backgrounds and sharing our needs and wishes to create an inclusive space for the week to come. Playfully, we learned some phrases to interact in our respective mother tongues, we explored the soundscapes of the village whose inhabitants hosted us with open arms and enjoyed and explored the beautiful mountain landscape, e.g. traces of spazza caminos and former chestnut agriculture.Weiterlesen

Diversify! Including various perspectives in global learning In our new eleven-month project in Berlin, we are deepening our activities in the field of power-sharing and diversification of perspectives in political education work. Until the end of July 2024, three shadowing students will bring their Southern perspectives into the project, develop a workshop concept together with us and conduct it twice with a group of learners. This will make migrant experiences more visible and perspectives in global learning more diverse.
