People of Jewish belief, their customs and religion represent an integral part within the societies of the European Community. Jewish women and men are visible and audible inside the heart of our societies. Nevertheless the non-Jewish part of the population often has a poor knowledge of their Jewish fellows. „Jewish Life in Berlin“, Germany’s biggest and most various Jewish community, took us to a ideal starting point for our expedition to far more than religion and history. Together with participants from Croatia, Swiss, Turkey, Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein we analyzed recent developments like the increasing antisemitism in EU countries and it’s consequences for Jewish citizens.Weiterlesen

Migration - a European Challenge

Through globalization, the internet and affordable ways of traveling the world has become very accessible for a lot of people. Never before EU citizens travelled as much as today. On the other side of the coin there are many “involuntary travelers” in many places of the world. People who leave their homes searching for places that can offer them better chances. Current statistics from the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) count 43 millions of refugees. Generation Precarious

Precarious jobs and unemployment are currently a European-wide phenomena and the working conditions of the EU-labor market are constantly deteriorating. For people under 30 the unemployment rate reaches as high as 40 %. After schooling there´s often no perspective to find a job. Our transnational youth exchange we discussed about realities of precarious labor conditions in different countries and the discriminations that go along with it. Together with our participants from Portugal, Austria and Germany we especially focussed on approaches of how to deal with and overcome these pecarious situations. With the youth neighborhood TV project “watch out”, solar e.V. offered young people and young adults a framework for implementing their own neighborhood TV project in 2009-2011. “What’s up in the Berlin northeast? What moves you and what do you want to move? We’ll find out about it together and talk about it.” That was the motto of “watch out”.
